JOHN ONERHIME OKWA

John is a founding member of Tarius Energy. Having spent 25 years at Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria, John left SPDC in March 2008 to establish Tarius Energy

Led several projects at SPDC, including the Construction of Otorogu Gas Plant and Odidi Gas Gathering Plant

During his time at SPDC he served in several management capacities, most recently as Head of Instrumentation for Shell Africa

Brings a wealth of professional and technical experience to the board and management of Tarius Energy

Educated at Teesside University, United Kingdom, and has a Degree in Electrical and Instrumentation Engineering

Founding member of Tarius Energy. He has a background in Investment banking and finance

Most recent roles include, Analyst Financial Institutions Investment Banking at Citigroup UK

At Citigroup, he advised banks, insurers and asset managers, on raising capital through IPO’s/ rights issues as well as on corporate restructuring through Mergers and acquisitions, as well as corporate divestitures

He has worked on a range of sell-side and buy-side mandates, some of which include advising Renaissance Insurance, Russia, on $135mn debt financing; Saxo Bank’s (Denmark) acquisition of Tricom (Australia); Dubai Banking Group’s corporate restructuring; and most notably the corporate restructuring of Northern Rock (UK)

Onerhime has also previously worked at HSBC Investment Bank UK, where he advised Telecomms clients on raising capital and corporate mergers and acquisitions

He was educated at University College London, and holds a First class degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering
